Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Worked in silk and cotton threads, deploying predominantly long and short stitches in palettes of brown, red and white to depict the docile and gentle profile of a dog, probably a St Bernard, on a brown silk ground; unsigned. Overall: 51cm x 66cm (20 1/16in x 26in); image: 39cm x 54cm (15 3/8in x 21¼in).
