Elvis Presley 1974 Kenpo Karate 8th Degree Black Belt Identification Card in Exhibit Quality Shadow Box Display W/COA - This is a gold finished wallet sized ID card, dated September 5, 1974, is embossed on the front with the words "This is to certify that Elvis Presley is a member of the International Kenpo Karate Association and is entitled to the rank of 8th A.M.A." Elvis Presley received and carried one of these gold cards in his wallet every time he received a new ranking from Chairman of the Board Ed Parker. Elvis began his lifelong fascination with martial arts while stationed in Germany, and primarily studied Chinese based Kenpo with Ed Parker, and Korean based Pasaryu with Kang Rhee. Elvis would become proud with each new ranking and would excitedly boast to everyone, including his fans while performing in concert. The card is framed in an exhibit quality shadow box display with an embossed certificate of authenticity from The Gettysburg Museum of History. The lot also includes a photocopy of an original note from Elvis to Charlie (Hodge), requesting he "Take my gold metal kenpo karate ID to Thunderbird Jewelers and have my name engraved on it and have 8th Degree black belt put on it and September 5, 1974.
