About the artist: He was born on November 8 (21?) In 1902, in the city of Kharkov. Father A. Volnenka. He graduated from the Kharkov Art College (1918), Kharkov Art Institute (1929). Teachers in the specialty: A. Khvostenko-Khvostov, S. Prokhorov, M. Fedorov. Theater artist, teacher. The artist’s creative work was dominated by the constructive principle of the performance design: the picturesque images were combined with a conditional, subtle poetic selection of expressions of the means of the master of the scenic landscape. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1958). Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (1946). He worked as an artist of the Kharkov Opera and Ballet Theater (1925-1935), at the same time in the Kharkov Ukrainian National Drama Theater, in the State Mobile Opera of the right bank in Vinnitsa and in the State Mobile Opera in Dnepropetrovsk. Lecturer at the Kharkov Art Institute (1932-1935); at the Moscow Regional Drama Theater (1935), artist of the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater (1951-1963). Major works: designed ballets - “Ferenji” by B. Yanovsky (1930), “Don Quixote” by L. Minkus (1932), “Gypsy Aza” (1926), “Defense of the Boucher” (1927) by M. Staritsky, “Natalka Poltavka” I. Kotlyarevsky (1929), “The Storm” by V. Bill-Belotserkovsky, “My Mother” by B. Navrozov (1937), “Sorochinskaya Fair” by M. Staritsky (1939), “Catherine” by N. Arkas, “The Nutcracker” P. Tchaikovsky (1956), “Forest Song” by M. Skorulsky (1958), “Nazar Stodol” by K. Dankevich (1960), “Bakhchisarai Fountain” by B. Asafiev (1961), “Esmeralda” by C. Pannier, “Lawrence” A. Krena (1962), “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” by V. Kireyko, “Puss in Boots” V. Homologs (1963); painting cycle - "Ancient Kiev" (1946-1964). The works are stored in the Domeg - Museum of Theater, Music and Cinema, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in Kiev, the Kiev Literary and Memorial House - Museum of N. Lysenko. He lived and worked in Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Moscow, Kiev, and died on August 23, 1965. He died on April 23, 1965.
