Jacques Cesa was a Swiss painter and engraver. Cesa loved his Gruyere homeland above all else and wandered in the mountains for more than twenty years, where he sketched rural life and alpine operations. On study trips he expanded his observations and his passion for the mountain dwellers in the Berber valleys of the Atlas in Morocco. Jacques Cesa was co-founder of the Trace-Ecart association in 1984 and initiator of the Altitudes Festival in 2000.
