Description

A very fine miniature Sterling Silver automaton singing bird music box, mid to late 19th century. The entire box profusely decorated in musical theme, with cherubs, birds, flowers on vines, flowers in baskets, scrolled leaves, musical instruments, etc. It is key wind and activated by pulling a knob on the right side of the box. When engaged, the oval lid opens and the articulated feathered singing bird pops-up from it's "nest" then retrieves after a brief serenade. It is in very good condition and in working order with key. Signed on underside of base "Sterling .925 Germany 00". Provenance: From a prominent Westchester County NY attorney's estate, name withheld by family.
