Item Details
Description
This lot consists of (10) 1892 halves and (10) 1893 halves. The Columbian Exposition half-dollar coin was minted in 1892 and 1893 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's voyage to the Americas. Designed by Charles E. Barber, the coin showcases a bust of Columbus on the obverse and a representation of his flagship, the Santa Maria, on the reverse. Issued in conjunction with the World's Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in 1893, these coins are highly collectible as tokens of this historic event.
