Footnotes:
The sculpture depicts Krishna as an infant wearing a charm box around his chest to protect him from evil. His hair is drawn up in a headdress characteristic for the subject in the Vijayanagara period (14th-17th Centuries). A comparative example is in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LA (M.72.1.16).
