An important and rare silverplate reticulated centerpiece bowl and cover attributed to Graff, Washbourne, & Dunn, New York, c. 1870; the pierced trelliswork body decorated with applied strawberry plants and set upon a pedestal molded after a sugar maple branch. Apparently unmarked. Provenance: A nearly identical bowl sold at Christie's "Important Silver" auction No. 2532: Lot 75, January 19, 2012. Dimensions: H 13.5" x Dia. 11.25". Condition: Stands slightly askew. Possible old repair to stem of one leaf at pedestal. One small break to bottom rim of lid, two very small losses to "vine" underneath base (not visible unless bowl is turned over). Old jeweler's file marks to the inner rim of the bowl and underneath the rim of the lid.
