Description
A tie-dye mini dress, owned by The Lovin' Spoonful founder, John Sebastian.
The long-sleeved cotton velour mini dress (bleached then dyed by an unknown friend) features a cream and orange tie-dye pattern with an elastic waistband. Labeled "Betty Lou of California." No size present.
The ensemble was dyed, c. late 1960s- early 1970s, at the 46-acre artistic community near Studio City called "The Farm." At The Farm, Sebastian was nicknamed "guitar fingers" due to his tight grip on his fabric (strength gained from playing the guitar) during the tie-dye process.
