Item Details
Description
A huge prop castle wall used on tour by AC/DC during the 1996 "Ballbreaker" Tour, comprising more than 200 pieces in total, constructed from grey painted foam and rubber to simulate aged stone, including:
143 large recangular wall bricks, some with contoured detailing
5 Large rectangular window sections
30 medium sized wall bricks
5 small rectangular wall bricks
8 pillars, each including a base with an electrically powered magnetic metal core that attaches to the central column piece
3 gargoyles
One of the large bricks is signed in black sharpie by all five members of AC/DC including Brian Johnson, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd. One of the gargoyles also appears to be signed, though the signatures are partly illegible due to the uneven surface of the piece.
The lot is accompanied by two Letters of Provenance including one from accountants Prager & Fenton confirming that AC/DC related company Dirty Deeds Ltd "sold the AC/DC castle wall (from the 1996 Ballbreaker Tour) to Wisconsin Blast in 1997". The second letter is from Wisconsin Blast confirming the sale of the wall to Aaron Baker, also stating that one piece was signed by AC/DC at Madison, WI on May 10, 2001 during the Stiff Upper Lip Tour.
The castle wall is seen on stage at the opening of shows on AC/DC's 1996 "Ballbreaker" Tour. The stage is empty with the castle lit in the background, a large wrecking ball swings back and forth from a crane and eventually crashes into the wall which collapses dramatically, with lead guitarist Angus Young appearing from the wreckage playing the opening to "Back In Black".
Large bricks each 21.5 x 12 x 12 inches Medium bricks each 17 x 12 x 12 inches Small bricks each 12 x 12 x 6 inches Windows each 46.5 x 30 x 15.5 inches Large column pieces approximately 82 inches high x 21 inches diameter Column bases each 26 or 31 inches high x 21 inches diameter Gargoyles each 16 x 12 x 12 inches
