A Japanese Porcelain Charger with Figures
Meiji period (1868-1912), 19th century, large porcelain charger finely painted with figures engaged in the various noble pursuits of a Chinese scholar gentlemen, commonly referred to as the Four Accomplishments or in Japanese kinkishoga, these include: playing the zither (kin), playing the game go (ki), practicing calligraphy (sho), and appreciating painting (ga), underside is decorated with scrolling tendrils and xo pattern.
