Item Details

Description

Each padded serpentine back and seat within a molded frame carved with foliate clasps and flanked by padded arms on acanthus-carved supports, on hipped cabriole legs ending in scroll feet.

Height 36 1/2 in (92.7 cm), width 29 in (73.6 cm), depth of seat 23 in (58.4 cm)

Condition

Formerly gessoed, gilt, painted and now stripped, lacking upholstery, previous restorations, one with spliced left stile at junction of back rail, both backs with later metal braces at junctions of toprail and stiles, old marks and scratches, scuffs to legs and feet.
