Description
Comprising twenty-four plates, two oval serving platters, one bowl and a lidded tureen, each painted in black and red glaze with various scenes of Rome after Giuseppe Vasi. Tureen height 15 in (38.1 cm)
Giuseppe Vasi was a renowned Italian printmaker. His first documented work was in Palermo, where he contributed ten views to La Reggia in Trionfo, a publication commemorating the coronation of Charles III Bourbon as King of the Two Sicilies. In 1736, he relocated to Rome and established his own print shop, where he garnered success creating and selling depictions of the city. Notably, the collection mentioned includes recognizable views such as Gradinata dalla Trinita de Monti and Veduta Del Volcano in Baia.
