Johann Michael Wilm (1885-1963) was a Munich goldsmith credited with the rediscovery of ancient granulation techniques. He was apprenticed to his father's workshop. He studied drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hanau and went on to establish his Munich based business in 1919, researching and refining the Etruscan skill of granulation. He is most noted for his use of granulation, filigree and ornate settings using diamonds, pearls and precious stones.
