Chinese Yuan Dynasty Blue and White Crane Porcelain Dish Plate. The plate has a broad wide central interior, rounded mouth lip, thick and large, raised on correspondence footed ring base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color depicted of flying crane through flowers bloom foliage. The crane symbolizes longevity as well as wisdom. An embroidery of a crane formed part of the regalia of the top rank of Imperial officials, so can symbolize the wish for promotion to a high official position. A crane is often portrayed with a tortoise longevity or a deer longevity and riches. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
