CONGOLESE MBOLE PEOPLE ANKLE CURRENCY, Mid-to-late 20th century. Patinated copper or bronze ankle bracelet which is a form of currency for the Mbole people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In some cases, these bracelets were also used in marriage contracts where a husband offers one to his wife. Consignor acquired it while working in the Congo. - Diameter: 8 inches.
