Sabatino Angelis Italian (1838 - 1915) Dionysus / Narcissus bronze sculpture, 1905 Incised signature at base; Sab-De Angelis & Fils, Naples. A famed Grand Tour souvenir bronze for Europe's elite. Biography from Leland Little Auctions: Sabatino De Angelis & Fils was a bronze foundry in Naples that was active from 1840 until 1915. The foundry produced finely modeled and cast bronzes, which were popular among young collectors on their Grand Tour. This particular model is a reproduction of an antique that was part of the Farnese Collection, which was moved to the Museo archeologico nazionale in Naples in 1787. Similar bronze examples can be found in several public collections, including the National Trust Collections at Hatchland Park in Surrey and The Huntington Museum of Art in West Virginia. 22"H x 9"Diam.
