Pre-Columbian, South Coast of Peru, Nazca, ca. 200 to 500 CE. A hand-built and stone-burnished pottery bowl of round-bottomed form featuring a vermilion-hued interior and an exterior decorative register of stylized weaponry including circular shields and lengthy textile slings called hondas. Size: 8" Diameter x 3.6" H (20.3 cm x 9.1 cm)

Condition
Professional repair and restoration, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and minor fading to original pigment, with scattered nicks and pitting, otherwise in nice condition. Great abstract motifs across exterior. Previous inventory number handwritten in gold-colored ink beneath base.
