Description
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque culture, ca. 500 CE. A marvelous pottery figure of a seated male, head exaggeratedly large, chest distended, probably an indication of dwarfism or other malady, one hand extended toward his mouth, other at his extended legs. He is painted in blue-green, red and ochre. Together with smaller standing figure of nicely painted figure wearing elaborate collar and mask, hands to his sides, painted in green and ochre. Size of largest: 3.375" H (8.6 cm)
