Original etching of a bearded French man seated at a table and holding a pipe in one hand and a glass of beer or wine in the other, street scene with figures visible through doorway, partial sign hanging in window "La Sla??? / La BiereFrancaise", signed in plate upper left corner "James Mallery Willson / 1932 Paris", signed in pencil lower left "Ed. 100", signed and dated in pencil lower right "James Mallery Willson / 1932", modern gilt wood frame with silk mat and giltinner liner; sight 13 1/4"W, 9"H; frame 24"W, 19 3/4"H--Willson grew up in West Palm Beach and studied art at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students' League in New York. He moved to Paris in the mid-1920s and remained there fortwelve years during which time this etching would have been completed. From the 1940s to the 1960s, he taught at the Norton Gallery and School of Art in Palm Beach.
