Description

TRENTON FALLS, NY, pair of salt prints. 5 ½ x 7 7/8 salted paper prints with cut corners as originally made, on board mounts. In the mid 19th Century these falls in the approach to the Adirondack Mountains almost rivaled Niagara Falls as a tourist attraction. A railroad line in the early 1850's increased the traffic and hotels were built. Langenheim made some salt print stereo views of the Falls, but these are different from these views. American salt print landscape views are rare. One print shows the main falls. The other shows "2nd and 3d Fall" as identified lightly in pencil on the bottom margin. These are clean, undamaged, slightly light.
