This work was painted in homage to the Chinese artist Ding Yunpeng (1547-1628) during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). It shows the three star deities Shoulao, Fuxing and Luxing, who represent longevity, good fortune and wealth. In this work they are depicted as elderly men. Shoulao, the god of longevity, is instantly recognizable with his high forehead. Luxing, the god of wealth, is seen to the right behind Shoulao, holding a richly filled bowl in both his hands. Fuxing, the god of good fortune, is wearing a blue garment and holding a patterned vase with a gnarled twig with mushrooms inside. The three gods are seen in a scenic environment.

The work is mounted on paper with a silk brocade frame and shows different artist seals and calligraphy upper right. The calligraphy roughly translates to “immeasurable life”. Labels and inscriptions are seen on the back on the mounting.

The scroll painting is in good condition with light traces of age and wear, such as minimal creases and tiny abrasions around the seals. The mounting on the underside is missing a handle on one side, showing a mounting with bands instead. The overall measurements are 178 x 68.5 cm and the painting itself measures 111.5 x 57.5 cm.
