A gilt copper alloy figure of Vajradhara, Tibet, 16th-17th century , seated in vajrasana on a double lotus base, the wrists crossed at the chest and hands delicately pinching two lotus stems blooming above his shoulders, atop which a vajra (thunderbolt) and ghanta (bell) emerge, dressed in long, striated dhoti, adorned with jewellery, armbands and ornate five-leafed crown originally decorated with semi-precious stones, 10.5cm high Whilst only remnants remains the piece would have originally been coated in thick mercury gilding, this enhancing it's dazzling appearance. The base has remained sealed with its internal consecration items left intact. According to certain Tibetan Buddhist traditions, Vajadhara is the ultimate primordial Buddha, or "Adi Buddha", personification of the dharmakaya (truth body of enlightenment), achieving the "state of Vajradhara" or complete realisation in these traditions. è¥¿è— åå…/å七世纪 é“œéŽé‡‘金刚总
