Description
Rare matched pair of Antique Meiji Era c. 1880-1890 Japanese Guilloche Vases and Round Box. Magnificent vivid color with draping purple and blue wisteria on all. Ground is ivory to teal blue. There are two wood carved stands for the vases. The interior of the box is a brilliant shade of deep turquoise guilloche. The vases each measure 6 tall and 6 1/2 with stands and the round box 3x3x2. all have some darkened crazing but all display well and there are no chips or dents. Guilloche was first introduced to Japan at the beginning of the 19th century. Provenance: A Summerville, South Carolina Private Collection......Combined weight is 1 pound.
