4 ½”w., x 4 “h., brilliant aquamarine, non lead , dome cover, patterned obtained using a Zanesville ten diamond pocket flask mold, panels on top of lid with ball finial, pontil scar; Zanesville, Ohio, c. 1815-26, sparkling mint, probably made for sugar basin, also used as a make-do butter cover. Found in Ohio by collector Elvin Moody.The Zanesville ten diamond is considered the rolls Royce of American glass! This lid if matched up with a proper Zanesville sugar bottom would easily be worth the price of a Rolls Royce, a used one that is; exceptional impression, color and condition: ex. George McKearin collection, ex. Elvin Moody, ex. C & C Fry, , ex. Lee Richardson.
