On two 4to pages of official letterhead, Mr. Ryder, American Consul General in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, informs Houdini of the investigation conducted and punishment meted out to Houdini impostors in Cape Town, South Africa, concluding that “it is not always advisable to have such a world-wide reputation as Harry Houdini appears to enjoy.”
