Description
Ancient Near East, Canaan, Middle Bronze Age II, 1900 to 1550 BCE. This is a long, thin ceremonial axe head made of cast bronze and dipped in lead, giving it a very interesting white patina. This style is similar to those known from Tel Megiddo, an important archaeological site from the ancient Near East. Size: 4.6" L x 0.85" W (11.7 cm x 2.2 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
