Description
Late 19th century Sterling fronted picture frame, retailed by Black, Starr, & Frost. The rectagular shaped easel back picture frame mounted with an English made Sterling Silver applique. Decorated with heavy repousse in roccoco style having a scrolled rocaille, lattice work, and floral motif. Holds an open monogram cartouche shield at top center. The frame back is wrapped in green colored crushed velvet. The Silver bears hallmarks for a Birgmingham silversmith, circa 1855, which predates the partnership of Cortlandt Starr and Aaron V. Frost by 21 years. Also stamped "B1733" to edge of Silver and "Black Starr & Frost." to frame backing. Measures approx. 11-1/4" H x 9-1/2" W. Will not ship, we can refer local shippers.
