Description
For major jewelry connoisseurs, collectors & historians, rareity is everything! Promo pieces, museum worthy, limited made, scarce & hard to find are always on the mind for these aficionados. So when a piece with the name like \"Strobel & Crane\" come available, collectors everywhere become interested. Pieces, exactly like this! This is a 14k yellow & rose gold bangle bracelet with chevron and dot design, circa 1900. The infamous, \"S14C\" hallmark is the only stamped mark on the inside of the bracelet. Simplistic and yet so fine in the custome detail and rich relief. Strobell & Crane : Strobell & Crane were listed as early as 1880, as manufacturers of fine jewelry in Newark, NJ. They not only created elegant jewelry, but exquisite cufflinks that drew upon and updated the historical revival styles of the Victorian era. Their cufflinks were beautifully crafted in 14K yellow and white gold and often rivaled the creations of other preeminent cufflink makers of the period (such as Carrington & Company, Cartier, Gough, & Wm. Huger & Company). You would be hard-pressed to walk into a jewelry store anywhere in the country during the early 1900s and not find something that was made in Newark,” said Dietz. Newark was the major manufacturing center in the United States for jewelry production. Over 200 companies existed in the early part of the century, but very few survived \"The Great Depression\". The city\'s founding fathers boasted that 90 percent of all solid-gold jewelry made in the United States came out of Newark factories. This is according to the book produced by the museum to accompany the exhibit, “The Glitter and the Gold: Fashioning America’s Jewelry\". An exploration of the jewelry produced in Newark, New Jersey - America\'s fine jewelry capital - from 1850 to 1950. Cufflinks were all the \"rage\" from the late 19th century through the first half of the 20th century. Strobell & Crane cufflinks are from a very collectible period of history for this type of jewelry. They are miniature masterpieces that reflect the elegance, history and styles of past times .
