Vintage French Ultra Pocket watch. Porcelain Enamel Face. Function: hours, minutes and seconds. Back engraved - Henri Bedu, and the town of Mehun-sur-Yèvre. he watch is stem wound and pin set. The watch winds, sets and runs. Purchased in Paris. The watch does run when wound, timekeeping accuracy not guaranteed. Measures 1.75"x1.75". PROVENANCE: A Paris, France and Charleston SC Private Estate.The Ultra manufacture was founded in 1949 by Pierre Maillardet, heir to the House of Paul Maillardet & Fils in in Morteau, French Doubs. A heritage of the long tradition of French clockmaking, rooting back to the 18th Century: Henri, first of the Maillardets, was the partner of the Jacquet-Droz family and built with his brothers numerous automatons made to order by the Kings and Emperors of the time.
