Description
1692 Medicine & Surgery for the Poor Cures Healing + SCURVY Remedies Paul Dube
A rare medical book designed for the poor! Paul Dube wrote this book with clarity in the attempts of providing poor people, who didn’t have the means to go to the doctor, the means of curing diseases with remedies that were readily available at a low cost. This later 17th-century edition includes natural remedies for Scurvy.
However, Paul Dube had a strong reputation among all social classes. He spent most of his life in the same location in France, and his charitable attitude and activities for the poor, along with his accessible medical works, made him popular with everyone.
This particular tome includes an imprint of a royal stamp on the front cover. The arms depict French heraldry (with lion and griffin), with the crown a French Count, perhaps that of Strasbourg.
