Description
Walnut and upholstery. Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1750. Width: 22 1/2", Height: 38 1/4". Seat Height: 17", Seat Depth: 15". Chair has carved shell centering the double arched crest rail above an urn formed back splat flanked by conforming stiles over a compass shaped silk brocade slip-seat with floral design, block and turned stretcher, cabriole legs with shell carved knees, and ball and claw feet joined by block and turned stretchers. Chair appears completely original and retains a mellow patina.
