Description
Calligraphy in four scrolls dedicated to Jingbo. Hanging scroll, ink on paper. Signed Yan Xishan, with 1 seal. Circa 1950s. Visible paper size (each): 90 x 26cm (35 1/2 x 10 1/4 in.)
Provenance: With dedication to Ching-Po T'O 妥靜波, who was a direct descendant of Genghis Khan 成吉思汗 through the line of emperor Toghun-Temur 妥懽贴睦尔, which is the origin of the T'O family name. Mr. T'O studied political science and economics in Beijing before emigrating to Taiwan, where these works were gifted in the 1950s. The family background is further detailed in Yu Youren's long calligraphy scroll (Lot 1180). Mr. T'O passed away in Canada in 2000.
