Description
Abstract Painting by Dimitry Krasnopevtsev. This paintng is signed on the back, see the photos that will be uploaded later today.Painting: 17"x 15" in a frame: 18.75"x 16.5".(From Aktis Gallery)"Dmitry Krasnopevtsev was born in Moscow(in 1925). In 1942–1943 and 1945–1946 he attended the Moscow Regional Institute of Fine Arts, followed by a period at the Surikov Institute. He participated in numerous unofficial exhibits in the 1960s and 1970s.In 1976 he joined the Moscow United Committee of Graphic Artists, and in1982 he was enrolled in the Union of Artists. His early etchings and paintings are melancholy and romantic. In the late 1950s-1960s the “metaphysical still-life” became his major genre, combining traditions of symbolism and surrealism with simplicity: broken ceramic utensils, dried plants and seashells. These “skulls of objects-things” are perceived as “poetic symbols of transitoriness” reminding that the world around us is unreal. Many well-known collectors such as G. Kostaki and S. Richter, with whom the artist was befriended, purchased Krasnopevtsev’s paintings. In the 1990s, several exhibits were held at the New Jersey Museum of Contemporary Art, at the Moscow Central House of Artists, along with published albums, diaries and graphic collections. In 1993 Krasnopevtsev became the first artist to be awarded the “Triumph” Prize. Krasnopevtsev died in 1995 in Moscow. His legacy is exhibited at the Moscow Museum of Private Collections affiliated with the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow."////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Estate of Giovanni and Dagmar Migliuolo, NYC.Giovanni Migliuolo is the former Italian Ambassador to the United Nations, USSR and Egypt.David Killen Gallery does not guarantee works of art for authorship. We remove paintings, watercolors and drawings out of NYC estates and they are sold as-is.Anyone unsure of the authenticity of any work of art sold in our auctions should consult an expert.
