John Wayne Gacy (AMERICAN/ILLINOIS, 1942 - 1994) original acrylic work on Frederix canvas board depicting the visage of "Christ" with thorn crown over a blue ground. Titled to lower center and signed J. W. Gacy tolower right. Verso of board has hand written (Title) Christ; (Artist) John Wayne Gacy; (Medium) Acrylic 2211-10. Mounted in a gold painted wooden frame. Canvas board measures approx. 14" height x 10" wide. Measuresapprox. 17 1/2" tall x 13 1/4" wide. About the artist: John Wayne Gacy, Jr. was an American serial killer also known as the Killer Clown who committed the rape and murder of 33 teenage boys and young menbetween 1972 and 1978. Gacy became known as the "Killer Clown" due to his charitable services at fundraising events, parades and children's parties where he would dress as "Pogo the Clown," a character he devisedhimself. In prison at Menard Correctional Center in Chester, Illinois, he did many paintings, many of which were clowns, which he signed Emmit.
