Description

Relics of the Niagara Falls Museum, this misshapen pair of armour piercing shells are mounted to a slate slab with a primitiv handmade plaque (typical of the Niaga- ra Falls Museum) that reads 3LB SHELLS THAT HAS PASSED THROUGH ARMOUR PLATE PRESENTED BY E. ARMSTRONG SEPT. 19, 1900. The military conflict in which these were used has not been identified but speculation includes the Civil War or the Spanish American War. The shells have a fascinating yet subtle almost spiral twist to them from impact. Slate Plaque - 8.5 in. x 7.75 in. / Shells - 2.125 in. diameter at it’s widest x 5 in. Weight: 3.8 kilograms
