Chinese 18 Century 5-Claw Dragon Silk Embroidery on a heavy two faced silk, dark blue to the outside, light green behind. The embroidery, a fragment of a Qing Dynasty court robe with a side-facing dragon in gold wrapped threads flying in multi-colored clouds with bats in satin stitch and precious objects in looped stitch over waves with further precious objects floating. Now mounted on a 19 century mahogany adjustable fireplace screen with a small shelf; a padded foot-rest upholstered in the same embroidery with an opposing Dragon. Screen embroidery with light age related wear and a few loose threads, the foot rest embroidery damaged and worn in the center. Height of screen embroidery 18 inches (45.8 cm.) X width 14 inches (35.7cm.). Width of foot rest embroidery 14 inches (35.7 cm.) X depth 9 inches (23 cm.). Possibly slightly more embroidery tucked under.
