Description
AN IMPORTANT AND RARE ÉMILE GALLÉ ETCHED, HAND ENAMELED, AND GILT ART GLASS "ORCHIDEES" VASE, NANCY, FRANCE, CIRCA 1895-1900, of monumental flaring trumpet form in green glass with internal acid etched decoration, the exterior with polychrome enamel wild mushrooms and lady slipper orchids with gilt highlights, signed on the bottom in gilt: "Émile Gallé del & ft, seris, depose." Height: 17 3/4" NOTE: A similar though smaller example is in the collection of The Charles Hosmer Morris Museum of American Art, Winter Park, Florida.
Condition
The imperfection visible in the neck appears to have occurred during the production of the vase. It does not appear to be a break and/or repair.
