Description
First half 19th century, 144 x 100 cm, Central Asia, South West Uzbekistan
Embroidered in the basma and yurma techniques, this small suzani in the nim format was probably made in Kermina. The small central field decorated with red and ice-blue flowers terminates in a pointed arch at both ends, assuming the shape of an elongated hexagon. The main border, in which large circular and fan-shaped blossoms in light shades of orange and pink are surrounded by a green leaf vine, has been adapted to the unusual shape of the field, expanding at the corners. Its elegant design and delicate palette make this suzani a very charming collector’s piece. – Good condition, backed with a modern fabric.
