The deeply and skillfully carved design shows a circumferential central scroll of lotus flowers accompanied by their leaves and tendrils, above a petal lappets border that encircles the slightly waisted base, and beneath two smaller borders with aligned leaves. The convex and recessed base is glazed in celadon and surrounded by a slanted, unglazed foot rim. The inner of the jar is completely glazed as well.
