Description
Japanese Katana Late Koto Period 1590-1620 WW2. The katana has its original (saya) scabbard under the WW2 tropical combat cover and retains a WW2 Japanese officers tassle. The surrender tag has is partially remaining. The mounts all appear to be original to the sword and early 17th century (1600's) and by the leather cover it was carried into WW2 and lost in battle. The scabbard (saya) has the matching style Kojiri and the sword pommel has the same style Koshira. The iron carved tsuba is signed along with provenance and has gold inlay as a highlight , the menuki appear to be flying bats that are silver gilt, the tang is signed by ( Ganmaku School provenance). The temper line is visible. The blade is has a 27 1/2 inch cutting edge
