Item Details

Description

This is an antique French clock from Vincenti & Cie, a well known French watch company. Made during the 19th Century and measuring over 14 inches in height, this clock is a wonderful antique that represents the best methods, materials and styles of it's time. This clock is a globe clock, wherein the face of the clock is on a rounded object similar to a globe. The clock is being held up by a trio of cherubs, a winged angelic figure in numerous religions that is often considered to be a direct servant to God himself. The three cherubs are standing upon a podium which is connected to a slightly bigger cross-shaped base. The podium itself is covered in a garland trim. The clock is made primarily of malachite, a copper carbonate mineral known for it's luxurious green appearance. The rest of the clock was done in ormolu, a gilding process where a finely ground gold and mercury amalgam is applied to a bronze object to give it a a nice gold finish. The numbers on the clock itself are in the roman numeral format. As a rare antique clock from a well known French company, this is a signature item that is a must own for any household.
