Oil on canvas portrait of a young lady seated holding a fan or hand mirror, wearing a white dress with yellow sash & yellow flower in her hair, mounted in later gold frame, some paint loss & cracking visible on canvas, marked in script on verso on stretcher, Eleanor Paxson Ball, 1874-1914 – my Aunt Nell & mother’s sister – Eleanor M. KerlinErb; Eleanor Paxson Ball was descended from the Bye/Paxson families of Bucks County, PA. She was the daughter of Anna Rachel (nee Woolston) & Samuel Carey Ball. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Wollston Bye & Rachel Hart Bye.
