Description
Group of Two Oriental Carved Wood Items, one a Chinese well-carved fruitwood Bodhisattva, the proper right hand raised in benediction, second quarter 19th century, h. 6-1/2"; and the other a diminutive Japanese Meiji carved boxwood cabinet figure of a mantled leering male crouched before a screen backed with a theatrical mask, fourth quarter 19th century, h. 2-1/8".
Condition
Group of Two Oriental Carved Wood Items: Bodhisattva Figure: several long shrinkage cracks and three very minor flake chips in the back of the figure, darker stain area on the back around a smaller shrinkage crack on the back as well. Kneeling figure: one minute gouge to the side of the figure, bottom marked with a museum inventory number.
