Description
Sword/Dagger cane belonging to Rezin Bowie, brother of James Bowie, Hero of the Alamo. In 1832, Bowie traveled to the mid-Atlantic region for medical treatment. In the 1980's, this cane was rediscovered in a men's haberdashery specializing in 1800's men's accessories. Cane specifics are as follows: 33.25" total length. Metal walking tip 2.25" Wooden body 27.25". Top collar approx 1", 5/16" attached to cane, 5/8" attached to handle. Handle is 8 sided, carved, and 2.75" in length. Cane is 1 3/8" at the top decreasing in diameter to 1/5" at the bottom tip. Upon the cane portion of the top collar is engraved "RESIN-BOWIE 1829". Removing the handle reveals a triangular blade 9 7/8". Etched into 2 of the 3 sides is "Resin Bowie 1829" and "Fearless Walker".
