Item Details

Description

A very handsome example of the US regulation M-1840 Cavalry Officer's Saber (sword). Very Good condition. 100% original 100% complete and no defects. Has full shagreen grip material and twisted copper wire wrap. Nicely decorated on the branches, guard, and pommel. Blade etching is worn. Eagle and scrolls still visible. Solid steel scabbard with one dent just north of the drag. This is appropriate for display with Union or Confederate officers' effects. Many a Reb carried a Model 1840 saber, including Jeb Stuart.
