Item Details
Description
A regulation 1850 pattern foot officer\'s sword with brass mounted leather scabbard. Beautifully engraved on both sides of the top scabbard mount with the officer\'s name and presentation inscription. "To Capt. John W Crump / from the members of his command / Co. I 93rd Regt NGSNY / as a token of their respect and esteem / Oct. 16th 1863\" Overall VG to fine condition. The blade is nicely etched with US, eagle, etc. It is also etched \"WARRANTED TO CUT / WROUGHT IRON\" It is maker stamped \"PDL\", and it is dealer signed \"Tiffany & Co. New York\". The brass scabbard mounts are better engraved than most. Grip is good with shagreen showing only small losses and full compliment of twisted binding wire. Scabbard excellent. Tight, sound, solid. The 93rd was a Hundred Days regiment not to be confused with the 93rd Infantry Regiment. Our unit served for a month in July of 1863 when Lee's invasion threatened the big cities in the north, and New York put down the draft riots. I assume Captain Crump and his men were involved with the riots. The 93rd then again served 100 days from July to October 1864.

Materials, Packing, and UPS Shipping on this item is $38.00. Insurance is $1.50 per hundred. UPS charges $5 for the signature required service. The insurance and signature service are optional, but there can be no insurance for theft or loss without the UPS “signature required” service. If you decline signature service and/or insurance and the neighbor kid steals the box off your porch after UPS leaves it.... or if UPS delivers it to the wrong address, or if the UPS truck crashes and burns… You are out of luck. I highly recommend the insurance and signature service.
