Description
This lot consists of an oil painting on board/panel, rendered in the style of artist Shui Long Yen (Taiwanese, 1903-1997). "S.L. Yen" along with the date "1962" is hand painted at lower right. Image depicts a marine, likely pacific asian seascape. The sky is on fire with the artists' use of color and light. Composition is executed in the modern landscape style for which Yen is so well known. This painting would make a great addition to any art collector's gallery. Overall framed dimensions measure 19.25" x 27" / Image sight measures 14.25" x 22".
By introduction, he studied under Kees Van Dongen (1877-1968) at the Academie d'Art Moderne. While studying in France, he applied for permission from the Louvre to copy famous works by artists such as Titian (1488-1576) and Ingres (1780-1867), and his work was selected into the Salon d'Automne in 1931.

Condition
Painting could benefit from a good cleaning but is in overall very good condition. Image and signature are vibrant and show very well.
