Description
This lot consists of a graphite illustration on paper, done in the style of Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890). "Vincent" is hand-written at bottom left corner of composition. This image, which verges on the surreal, depicts a black top hat resting atop a marble statuette. A stamp at lower left corner reads, "29 Rue d'Astorg. Collection Simon. Paris." This unframed piece measures approximately 10" x 7".
Reverse side features a stamp which reads the same as stamp on the front: "29 Rue d'Astorg. Collection Simon. Paris."
Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853-1890) was a major Post-Impressionist painter. He was a Dutch artist whose work had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. His output includes portraits, self portraits, landscapes and still lifes of cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers. Van Gogh drew as a child but did not paint until his late twenties; he completed many of his best-known works during the last two years of his life. In just over a decade he produced more than 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints.

Condition
Overall fair condition. Minor toning has occurred with age. No tears, creases, or major discolorations. Minor chip can be noted at top edge of paper. The artwork itself remains rich and vivid. Please examine photos for additional reference.
