⁂ Originally published in 1843 but this is regarded as the best edition. It is the first to include the photograph of King Kamehameha and the appendix which contains information on population, agriculture, commerce and the Hawaiian volcanoes. Jarves was an American who founded the weekly Polynesian newspaper during the 1840s.
